Best for Enphase and microinverter homes
If your solar uses Enphase microinverters, an Enphase IQ Battery is often the path of least resistance. It is AC-coupled and designed around the same monitoring ecosystem as Enphase panels, which can simplify commissioning and visibility.

Non-Enphase microinverter systems still exist in Australia. Do not assume Enphase batteries are your only option until an installer confirms compatibility with your current architecture.
Premium tier: sonnen and high-end integrated units

Premium pricing only makes sense when it maps to something you value: backup scope, aesthetics, local service footprint or VPP program fit in your state. For bill-focused payback, run the same usage assumptions on a mid-price modular quote and compare simple payback before you pay a premium badge tax.
What matters more than the brand shortlist
Tariffs and cycling usually beat brand for payback. A well-sized $10,500 net modular battery on a high import rate and low feed-in tariff can outperform a $13,000 net premium unit that rarely fills because solar is too small.
